Coming soon to Corby just for the Ladies.

Corby Ladies Associate  Members (LAMs )

What is it?

Ladies associate members, (LAMs for short ) are females that have a connection to a Freemason e.g. wife, partner, daughter mother, widow etc.

Why Corby?

There are 2 other LAMs in the Province, Sheaf Close in Northampton and one in Rushden. It was felt that there was a number of ladies who would appreciate one in Corby. We asked permission (as an association of Freemasonry) from the PGM RW Bro Mark Constant, and he was only too pleased to give it.

Do we wear Regalia?

As an association we are not a Lodge or Chapter and that means we do NOT perform Ritual and we do NOT wear any regalia.

What will we do?

The main purpose is Friendship, bringing ladies together that have a common interest in that our men are all Freemasons. To help our newer members wives/partners to understand what is what and feel less intimidated at ladies nights and other such events.

The plan is to raise funds to be spent within the complex, any monies left over in a year above what is needed to run may be donated to a local charity of the chair’s choice if approved by the membership. LAMs are non-profit organisations.

Apart from the membership fee, funds could be raised from raffles, entrance fees for events i.e.  Burns nights, afternoon teas, coffee mornings, cake sale etc

When will we meet and where?

It is proposed that we meet once a month on a Saturday morning at the complex for coffee and chat or a speaker or maybe even a  craft/workshop then every other month on a Friday evening in an outside venue such as a pub, restaurant, or maybe even ten pin bowling.

This way it is hoped that we can attract a wide range of ladies to join from those that work or have family commitments to those that maybe don’t like to be out late of a night and prefer the daytime.

What will be the setup and who can be members?

The committee will be a minimum of 4 persons comprising Chair, Vice chair, Treasurer and a Secretary, other committee members will be appointed into roles as is needed. The chair will only hold post for a maximum of 3 years and cannot run for consecutive terms.

Accounts will be submitted annually at an AGM and have a constitution which all members will have to abide by.

There will be 3 levels of membership,

–           Full-direct relatives of Freemasons,

–           Friends-non direct relatives / friends of full members and must have a reference from a full member to be eligible for membership.

–           Guests have to be invited by full members but can only attend max 3 times a year before membership must be sorted.

How much will it be?

Our first year Membership will be set at £20 per year, renewable/payable each year.

So why?

Well why not?  It will raise funds to help the complex from supporting maintenance of the complex to buy things such as chair covers which can be used at ladies nights or other events. We can help arrange events from Burns night or BBQ’s for the family or coffee mornings to help attract new members, by allowing ladies of non-members to join us it might bring in their partners / husbands. It’s main purpose is friendship, bringing ladies together that have a common interest in that our men are all Freemasons, so we can support each other through the good and bad to help each other as our freemason journeys progress hopefully to the big chair and then holding ladies nights. To helping the new members wives/partners to share ideas, and just enjoy each other’s company especially as it’s “just once a month” !!

All we need is your support. This is for you and without you it will not work.

When does it start?

We are planning to start in September 2025.
